Hope Village for Children, Meridian, MS

Hope Village for Children was founded in 2000 by actress Sela Ward, a Meridian native, with a vision to “lead each child to a place where hope is born.” Children who come to Hope Village have been removed from their primary caregiver’s custody by the Mississippi Department of Human Services. The Hope Village campus consists of five cottages: two cottages are licensed as emergency shelters for children ages birth to 18, while two other cottages are licensed as long-term residential facilities for children ages 12-18. Recently, Hope Village extended its services to include a transitional residential program, serving children in care who “age out” of the foster care system but who choose to remain in the care of Hope Village. Children attend local public school or enroll in an accredited GED program.
