Friends of Yemin Orde (FYO) supports the programs and activities of Yemin Orde Wingate Youth Village in Israel. Founded in 1991, FYO raises funds for Yemin Orde from throughout the U.S. Yemin Orde Wingate Youth Village was founded in 1953 by the British Friends of Youth Aliyah, in order to accommodate Holocaust orphans and immigrant children during the great immigration waves of the 1950s. The village was named for British Major General Orde Charles Wingate. Today, the 77-acre campus is home to more than 500 children from around the world. The children live in 20 children’s houses, and the campus includes a high school offering a complete academic curriculum, an art and music center, a large computer center, a fully-equipped carpentry shop, a central dining room, a library, and extensive sports facilities.
