Bulletins include information about the latest news at CORE and in the residential education field – upcoming events, advocacy successes and challenges, financial and professional practices resources, members’ accomplishments, personnel changes, and other items of interest to the membership.

Technical Assistance to Existing Programs

CORE members receive a 20% discount on CORE’s consulting services, which address a wide range of issues in residential education. Consultations in the past have assisted in developing a residential life curriculum, community involvement, staff training, governance, and resource development.

Significant Cost-Savings through Preferred Provider Partnerships

  • ARAMARK Food and Maintenance Services:
    CORE and ARAMARK have partnered to provide cost-effective food and maintenance services to CORE members.
  • Purchasing Point Cooperative Purchasing Discounts:
    Discounted pricing on goods and services through Purchasing Point - a free purchasing cooperative with access to thousands of national discount suppliers - is made available to CORE members. There is no enrollment fee, contract, or purchasing commitment, and members are able to “cherry pick” only the vendors they wish to work with.
  • Five Points Technology Group:
    CORE members have access to information technology consulting services and client database and tracking systems through CORE’s partnership with Five Points Technology Group.
  • Mutual of America Pension and Retirement Account Savings:
    CORE members who participate in Mutual of America’s pension and retirement savings plans on behalf of their employees will have administrative account charges waived. Mutual of America has been providing quality service to nonprofit organizations since 1945.

Consulting and Support for Developing New Programs

If you are interested in starting a residential education program, good for you! Though it is a very worthy and needed endeavor, it is not easy. There are many choices in program models, a great deal of funding must be secured, local people must be convinced that your program is valuable to the community, and more.

Once a concept paper is written by organizations or individuals wanting to open a new program, CORE provides specialized resources and assistance, including assisting founders clarify their concepts, glean from existing programs, identify resources, and overcome common barriers.

CORE can assist you in several ways:

  • By becoming a CORE member, you will meet and have access to existing residential education programs through CORE conferences, CAREStandards – a set of industry programmatic standards, monthly e-bulletins, listservs, and queries
  • CORE will provide documents that can help guide you as you get started
